Video: Drug cartel member admits Trump’s border crackdown is working

An alleged senior leader of the Sinaloa Cartel recently admitted that President Donald Trump’s border policies and operations targeting drug cartels have made cartel operations more difficult.

A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows an alleged senior member of the Sinaloa Cartel engaging in an interview with David Culver, a CNN correspondent. The Sinaloa Cartel member, who admitted to having killed people and engaged in multiple illegal cartel activities, can be seen wearing a black mask, a black baseball hat, and dark goggles to prevent his identity from being revealed.

During the interview, Culver asked the anonymous Sinaloa Cartel member, “Do you think what President Trump has been doing has been making your job tougher?”

“Oh yeah,” the alleged senior cartel leader responded. “Yeah.”

In a follow-up question, Culver asked, “It’s becoming more difficult, you think?” Once again, the senior cartel member answered, “Yeah.”

After Trump’s inauguration in January, the president signed an executive order designating multiple Mexican cartels as “foreign terrorist organizations.”

At the time, Trump explained, “The Cartels have engaged in a campaign of violence and terror throughout the Western Hemisphere that has not only destabilized countries with significant importance for our national interests but also flooded the United States with deadly drugs, violent criminals, and vicious gangs.”

Trump’s executive order added, “It is the policy of the United States to ensure the total elimination of these organizations’ presence in the United States and their ability to threaten the territory, safety, and security of the United States through their extraterritorial command-and-control structures, thereby protecting the American people and the territorial integrity of the United States.”

The president’s administration has reversed the policies of former President Joe Biden’s administration by continuing construction of the border wall, cracking down on illegal immigrants attempting to enter the United States along the southern border, and conducting major operations targeting Mexican drug cartels.

CNN’s report of a Sinaloa Cartel senior leader acknowledging that Trump’s policies and operations are working comes after Margarito “Jay” Flores Jr., a former top distributor for the Sinaloa Cartel, recently acknowledged that Trump’s administration is “doing a great job.”

“I believe that the Trump administration is doing a great job. … it’s kind of winding down a little bit in the media, but I believe that government that’s still at full force going after these drug cartels,” Flores Jr. said. “I don’t believe that the Chapo faction or the Mayo Zambada faction (of the Sinaloa Cartel) will last another year. … Especially with some of the recent arrests.”
