A caravan of approximately 2,000 migrants is heading to the southern border between the United States and Mexico ahead of the U.S. presidential election between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris.
According to The Associated Press, the caravan of roughly 2,000 migrants includes individuals from Haiti, Honduras, Venezuela, and Africa. The outlet explained that the caravan departed from Tapachula, Mexico, on Sunday and noted that some of the migrants are traveling ahead of the November election due to concerns that a new presidential administration could lead to significant immigration policy changes.
“That is what makes us fearful,” Joel Zambrano, a Venezuelan national, said. “They say this could change because they could both close the CBP One appointment and all the services that are helping migrants.”

According to The Associated Press, large groups of migrants have left the southern region of Mexico over the past month due to a lack of jobs in the area as a result of additional foreigners relocating to the area as well as delays with asylum appointments in the United States.
“The situation in my country is very bad, the president doesn’t do anything for us. We spent a week by the border, but getting documents takes time,” 48-year-old Honduran national Roberto DomÃnguez told The Associated Press.
A video shared on X, formerly Twitter, shows the caravan of roughly 2,000 migrants leaving the southern border of Mexico and traveling toward the U.S. southern border.
In the video, one migrant can be heard addressing the upcoming presidential election, saying, “Whoever wins should not close the doors on us, should give us the support we need, because we’re all going through a bad time. Not just us, many people. We are going for a better future for our families, who are in Venezuela under a regime.”
According to The Associated Press, the caravan of roughly 2,000 migrants is the third and largest migrant caravan to leave since the start of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum’s new administration. A group of 800 migrants and a group of 600 migrants previously left the region earlier this month.
The Daily Wire reported that news of the migrant caravan heading toward the United States comes as illegal immigration is one of the most important issues to American voters, based on recent polls. The Washington Examiner previously reported that more than 10 million illegal border crossings have occurred under the Biden-Harris administration, while roughly 1.7 million illegal immigrant “gotaways” have been recorded.
