Costco recalled 567K portable chargers after 2 homes reportedly caught fire

Costco is recalling 567,000 portable chargers after two homes reportedly caught fire and caused $165,000 in property damage total.

The myCharge POWER HUB All-In-One devices can overheat and catch fire, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries have been reported as a result of the recall.

The department store was aware of the two fires and the property damage it caused, but there were 120 additional reports of the chargers overheating.

Costco also received 115 returns of those same chargers, with customers reporting melting, expanding, smoking, fire, burning, exploding or sparking from the devices, according to the company.

The product was sold exclusively at Costco stores nationwide and on Costco.com between January 2022 and November 2023 for about $40.

The model numbers of the chargers are AO10FK-A, AO10FK-B, and AO10FK-C and are printed on the back. They are black and include two attached cables for charging portable electronic devices, and retractable wall prongs to recharge the power bank. The brand “myCharge” is printed on the front of the charger along the long edge.

The company is urging consumers to stop using the defective chargers and contact myCharge at 888-251-2026 or compliance@mycharge.com for a free replacement.
