Obama White House sent Hunter Biden VP Joe Biden email about Ukraine president report says

During President Barack Obama’s administration, the White House sent a scheduling email to both Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden prior to a phone call meeting with then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, a new report revealed.

According to The Washington Times, the email sent to Joe Biden from the White House was also sent to Hunter Biden, who had been serving on the board of Burisma Holdings Limited, a Ukrainian energy firm that was attempting to avoid a corruption probe.

The energy firm allegedly hired Hunter Biden to help Burisma avoid being charged by Ukraine’s prosecutor general.

Records of the phone call show that Joe Biden directed Poroshenko to make additional reforms to Ukraine’s prosecutor general office.

While The Washington Times reported that it is “unclear” whether Hunter Biden was involved in the phone call conversation between Joe Biden and Poroshenko, the news outlet noted that the timing of the phone call correlates with Hunter Biden’s role on Burisma’s board.

The scheduling email was reportedly sent on May 26, 2016, by John S. Flynn, Joe Biden’s assistant. The email was revealed by the National Archives as a result of a Freedom of Information Request that was presented to The Washington Times.

Flynn’s email to Joe Biden and Hunter Biden outlined details concerning the phone call with Poroshenko, which took place on May 27, 2016, as well as the vice president’s scheduled trips to Rhode Island and Delaware.

“Boss — 8:45 a.m. prep for 9 a.m. phone call with Pres Poroshenko. Then we’re off to Rhode Island for infrastructure event and then Wilmington for UDel commencement,” the email stated. “Nate will have your draft remarks delivered later tonight or with your press clips in the morning.”

The reason for Hunter Biden’s inclusion in Flynn’s email to Joe Biden has not yet been disclosed; however, The Washington Times noted that the email was addressed to Hunter Biden’s Rosemont Seneca company address, which is a firm Biden co-founded with multiple business associates.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is currently investigating associates of Rosemont Seneca as well as the Biden family.

Providing information regarding the phone call between Joe Biden and Poroshenko, the White House has disclosed that the two men “discussed the importance of continuing to institute reforms in the Office of the Prosecutor General, and the significance of Ukraine’s progress toward implementing judicial reforms and meeting IMF conditions.”

Prior to Biden’s phone call with Poroshenko, Biden had threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. funds from Ukraine if Poroshenko was not willing to fire Viktor Shokin, Ukraine’s prosecutor general. Poroshenko ultimately fired Shokin.
