Major Air Force base cmte. planning Pride Month parade around base housing where troops families live

A Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion (DEI) committee on Laughlin Air Force Base is planning a Pride Month parade around base housing where U.S. troops and their families live.

This is a breaking news story. Please check back for updates as more information becomes available.

A group of volunteers with the committee is working on the parade, base spokesperson Tech. Sgt. Dustin Mullin told the Daily Caller, adding that the committee has not yet received final approval for the event.

“A team of volunteers, under Laughlin’s Diversity, Equality, and Inclusion Committee, are planning the Pride Parade for Laughlin Airmen, however, approval for the parade is in coordination and there is no confirmed time, date, or route,” Mullin said.

A photo of an advertisement for the parade was posted on Twitter showing the event is tentatively scheduled for June 30 at 2:00 p.m.

“Laughlin Air Force Base has scheduled a gay pride parade for June 30. The parade route will take place in the housing area where service members and their families live,” TRMLX tweeted.

Mullin noted that neither potential participants nor families have been issued guidance for the event because the committee is still waiting for final approval.

“Neither the event or route have been approved,” Mullin added. “Approval for the parade is in coordination.”
