Watch a top Space Force leader sing ‘Don’t Stop Believin’

The U.S. Space Force is committed to growing into a fully-fledged part of the U.S. military, and while there’s a long journey ahead, the message from the branch’s top enlisted leader is clear: “don’t stop believing.”

Chief Master Sgt. Roger Towberman — the top enlisted member of the Space Force — underscored that persevering attitude on Wednesday at the Air & Space Forces Association’s Air Space & Cyber Conference at National Harbor, Maryland, with his rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin.”

There isn’t a full video of Towberman’s performance, but the Air & Space Forces Association tweeted the video of Towberman and the official U.S. Air Force rock and pop band Max Impact playing the first verse of the 1981 rock anthem.

Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Joanne Bass shared a Facebook video of her Space Force counterpart further into the song.

I’m no great critic of musical performance, but I can say with confidence that Towberman did a better job on with this song than Fergie did with the “Star Spangled Banner.” Others who saw the pieces of the performance agreed.

“Good NIGHT, that man has a good voice,” wrote one commenter. “Nice high notes, sir!!!” said one commenter on Facebook.

“I’m never gonna stop believing! He made a believer out of me,” wrote another.

Towberman’s musical skills even got the endorsement of 2018 Air Force Spouse of the Year Kristen Christy, who wrote, “The Cool Uncle is rockin’ it!”

Another commenter challenged Towberman to up the ante still, “I heard Chief Master Sgt. of the Space Force Roger A. Towberman can rock the keyboard and sing at the same time!”

Towberman’s performance also came two days after the new branch revealed it’s official theme song “Semper Supra.” Evidently, the Space Force was in a musical mood last week.
