A man with a shotgun is in a police standoff outside the United Nations building in New York City on Thursday morning.

Video shows police trying to negotiate with a gray-haired man in a red sweater and brown jacket clutching a shotgun across his body.

Police can be heard telling the man “put down the gun; there are better ways to get your message out.”

“We’ve locked down the building due to police activity going on outside the UN in front of our gates,” Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for the United Nations told CNN.
