The guided-missile destroyer USS Arleigh Burke has completed moving its home port from Norfolk to Naval Station Rota, Spain, the U.S. Sixth Fleet announced.
At the same time, the destroyer USS Donald Cook moved from Rota to Naval Station Mayport, outside Jacksonville, Florida.
Theirs are the latest in a series of home port shifts to rotate the four destroyers in Rota back to the United States and replace them with destroyers at U.S. stations. The first shift occurred about a year ago, when USS Roosevelt moved from Mayport to Rota to replace USS Carney, which moved to Mayport.
On its way from Norfolk to Rota, the Arleigh Burke conducted anti-submarine operations with the Roosevelt as well as the Virginia-class attack submarine USS Vermont and P-8A maritime patrol aircraft and reconnaissance aircraft.
