Border Patrol on alert over illegal immigrants’ plan to kill cops, report says

Border Patrol offices in Arizona received intelligence showing two Mexican illegal immigrants were planning to unlawfully cross the US-Mexico border in an attempt to kill a police officer, according to the Washington Times.

The tip was reportedly “uncorroborated,” but entailed specific details, a “BE on the Lookout” bulletin stated. It references a specific location on federal land and a time at which the act was to occur, putting agents on high alert early Thursday morning for a possible breach.

One of the Mexican men identified as a potential attacker was Eduardo Molina-Flores, a 49-year-old who is currently on a Homeland Security watch list, the Times reported.

“It has been reported that the subject’s intent is to kill a local law enforcement officer,” the Border Patrol said in the bulletin, titled “BOLO-Officer Safety/Situational Awareness/Armed Suspect.”

According to the “Law Enforcement Sensitive” bulletin, no agency was explicitly labeled as a target.

The report comes as illegal immigrants continue crossing America’s southern border in record numbers, overwhelming federal holding facilities.

During the first press conference since taking office in January, President Joe Biden said he should be “flattered” by reports that migrants are feeling more emboldened to unlawfully cross the US-Mexican border because they view him as being a “nice guy.”

“I guess I should be flattered people are coming because I’m the ‘nice guy’, that’s the reason why it’s happening. That I’m a decent man, or however it’s phrased. That’s why they’re coming because, you know, ‘Biden is a good guy,’” Biden said.

“But the truth of the matter is nothing has changed,” Biden asserted. “As many people came, 28 percent increase in children to the border in my administration. Thirty-one percent in the last year, in 2019, before the pandemic in the Trump administration. It happens every single solitary year.”

Standing in contrast to the president’s claims, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said the number of immigrants attempting to cross the southern border illegally will likely reach the highest rate in two decades.

“We are on pace to encounter more individuals on the southwest border than we have in the last 20 years,” Mayorkas said in a statement.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended over 100,000 illegal immigrants at the Southwest border in February, almost tripling the number of encounters from the same period last year.

The U.S. took 100,441 accompanied minors, family units, single adults and unaccompanied alien children in custody last month, with the vast majority being single migrant adults at 71,598, according to the Southwest Border Land Encounters Report released by U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials. More than 9,400 unaccompanied minors entered the United States in February, breaking the month’s previous record.

According to CBS News, the Donna facility held over 1,800 people on March 2 – 729 percent its pandemic-restricted capacity, which is supposed to hold just 250 illegal immigrants.

Over 15,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant minors are currently being housed in federal facilities, with thousands being held in facilities well beyond the three-day legal limit, CBS News reported.
