A sailor assigned to the amphibious assault ship USS Wasp has died as a result of coronavirus-related complications, the Navy reported.
The sailor, who had been hospitalized for four weeks, died Friday.
The Wasp is based in Norfolk.
Admitted to Sentara Princess Anne Hospital on Jan. 17, the sailor was transferred to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Jan 29.
The Navy is withholding the sailor’s name until 24 hours after next-of-kin notification.
